ሴቶች በፖለቲካ ሂደቶች ውስጥ ያላቸው ሚና በተለያዩ አግባቦች ማለትም ለሥልጣን በመወዳደር፣ በመምረጥ እና መመረጥ፣ የፖሊሲ ውትወታ በማድረግ እና የአመራርነት ቦታ በመያዝ ሊሆን ይችላል።
ባለፉት ጊዜያት ሴቶች የፖለቲካ ተሳትፎ እንዳይኖራቸው ከኅብረተሰብ ዝቅተኛ አመለካከት ጀምሮ ሀብት የማግኘት ውስንነት እና የሥርዓተ ጾታ መድልኦ የመሳሰሉ በርካታ መሰናክሎች ሲያጋጥማቸው ቆይቷል።
ይሁን እንጂ በፖለቲካ ውስጥ የሥርዓተ ጾታ እኩልነት እንዲመጣ ለማስቻል በዓለም አቀፍ ደረጃ የነበረ ግፊት በምርጫ የፖለቲካ ሥልጣን የሚይዙ ሴቶች ቁጥር እንዲጨምር ብሎም በፖሊሲ ቀረፃ እና አስተዳደር ረገድ ተያላቸው አስተዋጽኦ እውቅና እንዲያገኝ በር ከፍቷል።
ይህንን መሰል መሻሻሎች ቢኖሩም ዝቅተኛ ውክልና ጾታ ተኮር መድልኦ አሁንም የቀጠሉ ችግሮች ናቸው።
