Strategic Visioning for Peace & WPS

From July 15–17, 2025, TIMRAN, in partnership with UNDP, co-organized a Strategic Visioning for Peace and Women, Peace & Security (WPS) workshop in Bishoftu. The event brought together nearly 50 leading voices from Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs) and key allies from across Ethiopia, including representatives from the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Peace.

Over three energizing days, participants:

   Shared their values and expectations

  Reflected on traditions, historical strengths, local actors and capacities, as well as the networks and infrastructures

  Crafted strategic visions for peace rooted in community realities

  Explored international and national WPS frameworks, including Ethiopia’s WPS-National Action Plan (NAP)

  Shared inspiring experiences of how Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs are already making influencing in

  Shared about the role of women and WROs in advancing the WPS Agenda in Ethiopia

  Explored advocacy strategies to push for women’s leadership and meaningful engagement in peace-building

The workshop wasn’t just about learning, it was about connecting, co-creating, and committing to a shared future where women are at the heart of peace and security.

This workshop also marked TIMRAN’s 5-year journey as a women-led organization working to shift power and center women’s voices and leadership in political participation and public decision-making.

We thanks the UNDP and every participant for showing up with purpose and passion!
