TIMRAN Organized Dialogue Forums on Protection Mechanisms for Women in Politics

TIMRAN successfully organized two rounds of stakeholder dialogue forums aimed at discussing the legal, institutional, and social protection measures currently in place for women in politics on August 14 and 15, 2025.                                                                                                  

The forums served as a platform to identify existing gaps and weaknesses in these mechanisms, and to explore which strategies are most effective in preventing violence, harassment, and discrimination against women politicians.  

Participants included women politicians, representatives from law enforcement agencies, civil society organizations working to advance women’s rights, and community leaders.

The dialogue forums led to valuable insights, including:                                                            

#Clear mapping of the existing protection mechanisms available to women in politics.

#Identification of key gaps and challenges within those mechanisms.

#Recognition of the need for more comprehensive and targeted protection strategies to ensure women’s full and safe participation in political spaces.
