TIMRAN organized a workshop to establish a Regional Network of Local Peacebuilders and Women’s Rights Defenders in the Amhara region

Under the project titled “Women Count for Peace,” TIMRAN, in collaboration with Empathy for Life Integrated Development (ELiDA) and the Advocacy Center for Democracy and Development (ACDD), with the generous support of the UK FCDO, successfully organized a workshop to establish a Regional Network of Local Peacebuilders and Women’s Rights Defenders in the Amhara region atDessie town on August 29, 2025.
The workshop brought together #women-led and #women-focused CSOs, #women rights defenders and peacebuilders, including #traditional women peacebuilders known as “Duberties” from various parts of the Amhara region.
This important gathering served as a platform to discuss the purpose of building a regional network, one that enables coordinated and strategic advocacy to promote and ensure women’s participation, leadership, and representation in the national peace process, in light of UNSC Resolution 1325 and the WPS agenda.
Participants agreed to establish the network and expressed their commitment to continue as active members. The workshop concluded with an initial discussion on the structure of the network and the creation of a Telegram Group to facilitate ongoing communication and collaboration among members.
