Women’s full participation as voters, candidates, and observers remains critical-UNWomenEthiopia

As Ethiopia prepares for its 7th national election, women’s full participation as voters, candidates, and observers remains critical. Political parties play a critical role as the primary gateway to political power, making them central to ensuring women’s equal participation in electoral processes. Hence, ensuring that they have an inclusive internal governance structure and culture is a priority.

It is with this understanding that UN Women Ethiopia in collaboration with the Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) and the የኢትዮጵያ ፖለቲካ ፓርቲዎች የጋራ ምክር ቤት-Ethiopian Political Parties Joint Council (EPPJC), convened a one-day practical training on ‘Developing Inclusive Party Policies and Programs’ on 24 December 2025 in Addis Ababa.
The training brought together over 60 political party leaders and EPPJC women’s wing executive members to strengthen understanding and build practical skills for designing inclusive policies, and foster dialogue and collaboration among political parties on representation and gender-responsive political participation. #TIMRAN@5 #UNWomenEthiopia #NEBE
