TIMRAN Concludes “Women Lead Peace and Justice” Project with submission of Learning Document to the Ministry of Justice.

TIMRAN successfully hosted a Transitional Justice experience‑sharing and learning event at the Magnolia Hotel in Addis Ababa, marking the conclusion of the six‑month “Women Lead Peace and Justice” project, supported by the UN Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and technical support of the Netherlands Institute for Multi-party Democracy (NIMD)
As part of this project, TIMRAN organized an experience‑sharing visit to Liberia for representatives from government institutions, survivor groups, and civil society organizations. The visit provided valuable lessons from Liberia’s post‑conflict transitional justice process, particularly on survivor participation, women’s leadership, and gender‑responsive justice mechanisms.
During the event, TIMRAN shared the experiences and lessons gained from Liberia with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) through the Learning Report document, which will support strengthening Ethiopia’s transitional justice process by fostering inclusive, context‑aware, and survivor‑centered approaches.
Based on these interventions and lessons learned, a policy advocacy brief was developed to support the alignment of future transitional justice legislation with women‑focused, survivor‑centered, and gender‑responsive principles, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable justice framework in Ethiopia.
